A baby boy nursery and ten year old girl room combo...

Hi there!  Here are the pictures of my baby boy's nursery.  About a month after he was born we decided to put our ten year old daughter in this room as well.  She was sharing with her two younger sisters and needed her own space.  Since our baby boy never slept in this room (He sleeps with us) we set up a bed for her.  In the meantime we have added on a fourth bedroom, which is currently the play room but will eventually be our oldest daughters room.

All this said, it was a little tricky combining the room.  I let my daughter pick her own bedding that we found at H&M and I think it went pretty well with everything else.  She has a thing for horses.  :)  Everything else was pretty much thought out with baby boy in mind.  I love how it turned out!

I made the mobile, crib sheet by ivie baby shop on Etsy.  Vintage art work that my sister found framed in frames from Michaels.
Chevron blanket was a gift from Nordstroms.  Wall decals by WallsbyMur
Shelving and mirrors from Ikea, crib sheet from Ivie baby, changing table from a vintage store near by.  Prints from thrift stores and Etsy and all frames from Michaels.

Love his little reading nook.  Table and book ledges from Ikea.  Chair from thrift store.
My daughters bed.  Curtains made by my mom.  Fabric from Ikea.  Light from Ikea and bedding and pillow from H&M
Pouf from Sam's club for only $15.  Score!  We bought four for other places in our home. The gray paint on the wall is Stonington Gray by Benjamin Moore and I love it!
So there ya have it!  Our baby boys room!

I'm Back...

After starting up my Interior Design Instagram I decided to just go ahead and start my blog back up again.  So much has happened in the last couple of years!  We had a baby boy named Brock!  He is turning one six days and we are all so in love!  It was very fun to decorate a boy's nursery and here is a little peak of it.  I will be updating soon and sharing all sorts of projects I've been working on.  So excited to be blogging again!  If you want to follow me on instagram you can find me at sosimplydesign.  Also, if anyone out there knows someone that could help me revamp my blog I would so love it!  Thanks!!!

A Kitchen update...(The making of a home)

I cannot tell you how thankful I am to finally be done with our kitchen.  Half way through it we decided that we were way in over our heads and hired someone to finish up the job.  I am so glad we did!  He did a great job!  I had taken some really great pictures of my kitchen on my good camera and somehow erased them yesterday.  So, I will have to take some more today to give you a better view and some better pictures of the end result.  For now these are blurry pictures from my phone.

A few things I would still like to do would be to replace the light fixtures over the sink and in the middle of the kitchen.  I was thinking that a chandelier would look beautiful over the the sink and then some sort of recessed lighting in the middle.  You will see what I am talking about when I show you more pictures tomorrow.  For now I am very pleased though, and I feel light it gave my whole house the look I wanted it to have.

Below is my glass doors over the desk area that I displayed all of my nice dishes and china in.  This cabinet makes me smile.

This was the very end of the process.  Putting the hardware and doors back on.  I was so thankful to be almost done.
Here was the before picture of our kitchen all taped off.  You can kind of see the cabinets before.
So there ya have it!  I will have better and more pictures to share tomorrow!

The making of a home...

Hi There!  Anyone still out there?  Its been awhile since i have blogged but we have been a little busy.  Yep we moved!  We are in our new home and loving every minute of it.  I decided that I am going to start a little series called "The making of a home."  I want to document all of my little projects and the completion of each and every room in our new house!  Now the home itself is a 60 year old ranch style home with a very mid-century modern feel.  But before we bought it, it was completely re-done.  New bathrooms, floors, paint, crown moulding, baseboards and a beautiful kitchen with all new appliances floors and counter tops.  The only thing they seemed to forget to do in my mind was update the kitchen cabinets and hardware.  So, this will be our first project along with continuing to unpack rooms and get things hung up on the wall and such.  My plan is to paint our cabinets white and put new hardware on them.  I'm starting tomorrow and I know it's going to be a huge job!  I will be posting about my progress! As well as many other upcoming projects.
Stay tuned for pictures soon and wish me luck!

We did it!!!

Ok so maybe I am speaking too soon.  But we bought a house!  It's our dream home, seriously!  We knew the second we walked in that this house needed to be ours.  It has a huge dream yard with a pool and I can't wait to raise our kids in this house and make so many memories in it.  Here is just a sneak peak of the side of the house where the pool is.  The whole other side is a giant beautiful patio and side yard with more lawn and trees and landscaping we will know what to do with.  We just completed inspections today and everything looked great! Pretty good for it being a almost 60 year old home!   I could not be more excited!  Praying I'm not getting ahead of myself with this post.  I can't contain myself and I figured that since inspections went well I could make the announcement.  Can't wait to show you more pictures and decorate this house!  Room by room will be documented!

Emma's Room...

My sister in law Heather is working on her daughters room right now for her 9th birthday.  I really can take no credit for this room other than the fact I created the board with all the items Heather loved.  I added a few things but the room is her creation!  Just thought I would share because it's going to be so cute and I can't wait to see how it all turns out.

Chevron: Is it a fad?

What do you think?  Is chevron just a quick to leave fad?  I am in love with chevron and would add it throughout my whole home.  But I'm worried it won't last long.  I love it in a good rug, pillows, wall paint, drapes, you name it.  I'm all about the Chevron!

I am in love with this entry wall with the gold mirror and little console table.  I might have to copy this if we ever find a house to buy.

What about you?  Are you as into the chevron as I am?
